Barosse Hotel de Autor Description
Amidst the magnificent Huescan Pyrenees lies the village of Barós, just a few kilometres outside Jaca. Here the Collarada and Pala de Ip peaks dominate this stretch of the Road to Santiago. The village has an 11th century Romanesque church and a number of other gems which are a must for visitors, especially if climate change starts to warm up the winter season, as the region has much more to offer than just skiing.
One of the gems is the Barosse Hotel, a charming guesthouse previously the Pardina de Paternoy, a building of historic significance. The building’s stonework has been given a new lease of life, rescued from the ruins by Jossé and Gustavo. The house is nothing if not sturdy, being constructed out of stone, wrought iron and wood. Traditional materials, perhaps, yet it is all done in an innovative way. An antique brass tap by the terrace presided over by an engraved baroque sun enhances the terrace at the entrance to the property, while the oval dining table inside was custom-built.
Five spacious rooms and a duplex suite are all lovingly and individually decorated and offer harmony and comfort. The rooms ooze style and panache and there is no end of little touches. Facilities include an en-suite bathroom with hairdryer and a TV.
The dining room has a table for communal meals while individual tables are located on the terrace with views of the garden and Pyrenean landscape. The menu for the restaurant is created each morning depending on what is fresh in the market: this is an imaginative and creative cuisine (average price around €30 p.p.).
The relaxation room, complete with a jacuzzi, sauna (both included in the rate) and treatments is truly welcome following a day of exploration. Outside in the garden on the terrace is yet another jacuzzi. The cosy living room with inviting fireplace is ideal for reading and relaxing to music.
